I was only in track for one reason. And winning was not one of them.
I was in track to chat.
But if I was going to be in track, I had to choose some events to be in. Dang it.
If it had been up to me, I would have done the long jump. Not because I was good at it. More because that was one of the first events and once I was done with that, I could get back to the real reason I was there. And competing was not one of them.
And if I had to run I would have done short distances. Not because I was fast...because I have short legs and that doesn't help you to win short distances. But because I could get over with them quickly and get back to the real reason I was there. And running was not one of them.
Unfortunately for me, I had an older sister who was in track because she actually was good. Like, really good. And she was really good at really long distances. And I do mean long long distances. She took state like every year she tried. Held the state record.
Unfortunately for me, the track coaches thought I was her. Even though she graduated 5 years before I did.
