favorite Summer Olympic Moment

My favorite olympic moment wasn't on the screen.

Nope.

It was right in my livingroom.

With 5...I mean 4 of the greatest athletes of all time.

Floor routines, balance beams, and horse.

My kids.

Talk about an awkward moment

A car wash on a road trip

for fun...

Some people listen to music for fun on a trip.

Others read a book.

sleep

Still others, who will remain annonymous, eat and eat and eat.

My kids choose to color. Well, color and fight.

My older boys like to play their ipods.

The Yellowjacket story

Bees

Bees.

We got bit by bees

funny thing is I was telling my kids about the story of the yellow jacket fiasco.

All his money....

Mom, can I buy a toy, he asked as we pulled into Target

Did you bring your money?

Yes.

Okay, but you have to understand that I am not helping out this trip. You have to choose a toy that you can afford.

Okay

Dad helped him pick it...took about 30 minutes

Then we got to the counter and it was more that they had thought.

Ugh!

But I couldn't do it.

He handled it very well. Poor kid.

Minor problems

I don't like flying all that much.

Freaks me out

This time I wanted to sit somewhere near the front so I could get out fast.

Available seating was the wing chair.

No biggie.

Until they said there was "Minor engine problems"....

on the engine right outside my window.

"Just keep an eye out for fires at take off" he says. Ummm are you kidding me?

If the shoe fits

Camden tore up his shoe so he could get new ones.

Went to the store, chose some shoes, and walked out with them on his feet.

Walked about a block. Then decided he didn't like how they felt.

I tried to convince him that they were going to be okay, but he wasn't having it.

We went in, exchanged them, and got what he wanted.

It's okay to try something that you think you are going to like, but

Walked a mile in his shoes...okay, maybe just a block..but still

Don't judge a person unless you have walked around in his shoes.

Camden destroyed his shoes because he wanted new ones, chose some shoes, bought them, walked around in them and decided he didn't like them and switched them out.

Major hack job

We met the girl of my son's dreams the other day.

At payless shoes.

Burping and hacking.

There was a ladu in payless today who was burping and hacking. Just walking around the store. It was really gross.

My son asked if it was me. Really?

I usually will try and hold in my burps...wait. What am I saying. I don't burp. Ever.

And hacking...on a rare occasion, when I need to scratch my ears, and no-ine is around...well, it's okay if Hubs is around because he can't hear me....then, I will hack just a little.

But this woman was in a public place, just burping and hacking.

Real attractive.

I hated running the 800

I was only in track for one reason. And winning was not one of them.

I was in track to chat.

But if I was going to be in track, I had to choose some events to be in. Dang it.

If it had been up to me, I would have done the long jump. Not because I was good at it. More because that was one of the first events and once I was done with that, I could get back to the real reason I was there. And competing was not one of them.

And if I had to run I would have done short distances. Not because I was fast...because I have short legs and that doesn't help you to win short distances. But because I could get over with them quickly and get back to the real reason I was there. And running was not one of them.

Unfortunately for me, I had an older sister who was in track because she actually was good. Like, really good. And she was really good at really long distances. And I do mean long long distances. She took state like every year she tried. Held the state record.

Unfortunately for me, the track coaches thought I was her. Even though she graduated 5 years before I did.

Miami Vice...but that would date me....as in show you how old I wam...not take me out to dinner and a movie...although Don Johnson with his cool blazer could have dated me back in the day. Now I sound old. No, not Miami vice.

He looks Good!

In case I've never told you this before, Hubs is really cute. No, really he is. He was quite the charmer when he was younger. Had his fair share of make-outs, I am sure.

He is a guy's guy...you know. Loves to watch and play all sports, works out, isn't weird and creepy. That's Hubs.

But you need to know it is not women who are attracted to him. Oh no. Let me share.

When we had been married for about 3 years we moved to Arizona. In order to get a job, he had to go through a temp. agency. As Hubs was sitting in the lobby, this guy kept looking at him. At first Hubs didn't think anything of it. But the guy kept staring.

Then he started to do the "kissing lips" at him. You know the one. Almost like blowing kisses in the air...like puckering at someone...with "sexy eyes." Needless to say Hubs was uncomfortable. He just stopped looking and the weirdo.

Then, after working at that job for about 6 months, another temp was brought to the job. Her name was Michelle, though Hubs (and everyone else working there) was sure that her name was originally Michael.

"How do you know she was a he?  Maybe she is just more masculine," I reasoned.
"You do not understand. Women do not have hands like that...or hairy arms...or facial hair," he explained.

Well, this Michelle seemed to develop a thing for Hubs. She would sit on his desk and try and play around with Hubs. Hubs was disgusted by the whole situation. He is uncomfortable with women hitting on him...but a woman who once was a man...yeah. Not good.

One day, Michelle just wouldn't take the hint...she/he wouldn't leave Hubs alone. Hubs went back to his office and Michelle followed him in. As Hubs sat down at his desk, Michelle put her hands on his shoulder and pushed him into his seat.

That's all it took. Hubs shoved his/her hands off of him, jumped to his seat and walked out. Michelle was lucky that Hubs had restraint. He walked right to the boss' office (i.e. our brother-in-law) and reported sexual harrassment.

Well, Michelle didn't take too kindly to this, and when approached by said boss threw a stink. She/he was let go.

She just couldn't keep her hands off him. I can't blame the guy.

Neither can I.

Things you never want to do...

Are you sure?

I know for sure the minute my kids get into the van for church, they will begin fighting before their bottoms hut the seat.

I know for sure my 11 year old has inherited his father's fridge blindness and there is nothing I can do about it.

I know for sure that with every new pair of socks I buy, another is either getting a hole, is left under the trash or is otherwise being eaten by the washing machine.

I know for sure that

First impressions

First impressions are so important, don't you think?

Well, we made sure that our future brother/son-in-law had the right impression of us.

We were a non-swearing, by-the-book, typical Mormon family. But if you put 6 people into a cramped space for 8+ hours, anyone would lose their mind.

I believe it was my dad's idea. "Let's make up a song to sing to Matt."

It goes like this,
"Where is Matt. Where in the Hell is he at. Ohhh, me oh my. He's one. Hell of a guy. We've come so far. In this damn car so you better produce him right now."

Yeah. I know. I am not sure that was the impression that we wanted him to have of us...and yet. There it is.
